Gyms

Why your gym gets no new sign-ups from its website

Someone searches "gym near me" on their phone, lands on your website, and within five seconds decides whether to keep looking or move on to the next result. A big share of your new sign-ups is decided in that tiny window, and many gyms lose that chance without noticing.

These are the most common causes.

01 There's no clear way to sign up or book a trial class

If trying a class means calling during office hours, messaging on Instagram and waiting for a reply, or filling in a form nobody answers the same day, most people give up. A visible "Book your free class" or "Join now" button, with instant confirmation, makes a big difference to conversion.

02 Prices aren't shown anywhere

It's understandable to want to discuss rates by phone, but if a visitor can't find even a rough price, many leave to compare with competitors before getting in touch. Even a "from $X/month" gives a basis for trust and better filters the people who are genuinely interested.

03 Stock photos instead of your real facilities

Generic photos of smiling people in a room that isn't yours have the opposite effect: they look less real, not more professional. Photos of your rooms, your equipment, your group classes and your team build much more trust, even if they aren't studio shots.

04 The website is slow or doesn't work well on mobile

Most of these searches happen on a phone, often while the person is walking near the gym. If the website takes long to load or the menu is hard to use with a finger, it gets closed before anything is read.

05 It doesn't show on Google Maps or in local searches

A beautiful website isn't much use if it doesn't appear when someone searches "gym" plus their neighborhood or city. A poorly completed Google Business profile, with no reviews or not properly linked to the website, is one of the most frequent reasons a gym stays invisible next to its competitors.

The next step

It's almost always a combination of two or three of these points, and all of them can be checked. I offer an audit of your website for $300: I'll tell you exactly what's failing and what can be improved to get more sign-ups. If you then want to go further, a rebuild of your current website (audit included) is $1,500, and a brand-new website from scratch (audit included) is $2,000.
